Auzoux noticed a shortage of human remains for doing dissections which is an essential part of studying medicine and if a body was available, it could only be used once before decomposition.
Hence, he began making dissectible anatomical models that can be used over and over again. Dr. Auzoux introduced papier-mâché that included a mixture containing cork and clay as well as paper and glue. Previous centuries models were made of wax, but the material was too fragile and would lose its shape.
